We would like to thank Pam Hooper for donating her Laser One racing sailboat for sale in our silent auction. This little gem, complete with trailer, is fully rigged for competitive racing and would cost more than $7,000 if you were to buy it new. Doug Wight snapped it up for $1,750 - a great bargain - and in the process helped us to achieve our $25k fund-raising goal for this year's Lions charity golf tournament.
Pam found out about our charity golf tournament when she visited the Lions Wheelchair Warehouse in order to help a friend. She got to talking with Darrell Dobson - our sweet, sweet-talkin' Lion - and before long arrangements were being made.
Doug Wight - of Ebright Wight Property Management - is a long-time supporter of our golf tournament, so he was bound to be on hand when Pam's Laser One went up for auction. Doug has a granddaughter who is interested in sailing and the Laser One seemed exactly the right gift for her.
The money they have helped us raise will support Dollars for Scholars, the Boys and Girls Club, the creation of an eye clinic at the Light House Mission, and our other programs of community service.
In Lions, our motto is "We Serve." Your generous support of our fundraising activities helps make that service possible. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
