Biography of Zone Chairperson, Don Wight

Don was born and raised right here in Zone 19H-1 and educated in Bellingham schools. He graduated from WWU in 1965 and taught school briefly in Portland, OR, before returning to Bellingham, where he taught at Sehome High for 30 years.

Don has had a life-long flirtation with the Salish Sea, working on tuna boats during high school and as a licensed Master operating charter boats for the past 35 years. Among the Masters of the Salish Sea, he is known as "Captain Don San Juan." Skeptical?  Well, check this out then.

Don joined the Lions in 1996 so that he could recurit sponsors for the Christmas Ship. He succeeded and is still bringing Santa across the shimmering waters of the Salish Sea.

Want to flounder for halibut? Captain Don knows the bottom of Bristol Bay as no other.

Want to "Clear the Decks!" Call in Don and he'll throw away everything you have! You're vessel will never be cleaner.

Need things to happen on time? Captain Don San Juan will put you on "Marine Standard Time."
